In early April Yash participated in the MIT COVID-19 Challenge, which was geared towards finding innovative solutions to tackle issues related to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. His team (with Smrithi Sunil and Guillermo Siman) was one of the winners that weekend! Ever since then they have been working tirelessly to get their idea implemented. They are in talks with Boston VA, UCSF and Johnson and Johnson and have been lucky to have great guidance from mentors from the MIT network. In late May they took part in MIT COVID-19 Part 2 and went on to be the winners there once again.
They focused on tackling the problem of test shortages and proposed a solution that can greatly increase testing capacity with minimal additional resources. They have been working since to see their idea through by connecting with partners in academia, healthcare, and industry.
